Résumé

Start of FAANG Europe COST Action (Functional Annotation of Animal Genomes - European network)

In the past 15 years there have been substantial cross-agency and transnational investments in the sequencing of domesticated animal genomes. The current challenge now is to understand the instructions encoded in such genomes and to predict the resulting phenotypes. However, this represents an enormous undertaking requiring the concerted efforts of hundreds of scientists across the globe.
Fostering and coordinating this international effort is the mission of FAANG, the Functional Annotation of ANimal Genomes initiative (Andersson et al. Genome Biol. 2015). Among the ongoing projects, the COST Action FAANG Europe started in April 2016 to promote trans-national cooperation among European researchers. In this seminar I will review the main activities and current achievements of the FAANG initiative and outline the plans of FAANG Europe.
